Leadership
Ursa Minor Technologies, LLC, was founded in 2011 by Dr. Stephanie Buck. Prior to pivoting to full time consulting in 2019, Dr. Buck held general and program management leadership roles at Aerojet Rocketdyne, where she was Director, Program Management, as well as at Raytheon and Teledyne. She also held engineering and business development leadership roles at SSL (now Maxar), where she focused on leveraging commercial best practices into cost effective solutions for Government, international and commercial space and defense customers. She started her career as a senior engineer and project manager at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). She has had P&L responsibility over $560M and has managed several hundred people in a matrixed environment.
Dr. Buck earned her B.S. degree in Engineering & Applied Science from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and her M.S. degree from Dartmouth College in Engineering Science. She earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she focused on fracture mechanics of polymeric composite materials. While working at JPL, she earned an MBA from UCLA Anderson, where she focused on entrepreneurship and technology management.
